Eglise Saint-Hippolyte

40190
VILLENEUVE-DE-MARSAN
Villeneuve de Marsan has a rich medieval past, as witnessed by the 14th-century church of Saint Hippolyte, built of Languedoc bricks. Inside, 16th-century frescoes depict the martyrdom of Saint Catherine. Interesting furnishings are preserved.
From medieval times one can still see the remains of the 13th century Saint Hippolyte church, built in bricks with stong buttresses and a square tower. Inside is a 15th century frescoe depicting the martyr of Saint Catherine.

The first formal marker of Villeneuve’s past is engraved on the side of one of the bells: “I have been cast in bronze for the first time in the year 1000…”
