2km from Saint-Justin in the direction of Gabarret, the Château and the 4 ha of Fondat Park dominate a small valley hidden in the woods. This fairy-tale setting with its giant trees is sure to delight young and old alike
Rebuilt in 1607 and rebuilt in the 19th century, the castle and its outbuildings of picturesque architecture, all classified ISMH (Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques) are to be noticed: the large Medici style pavilion, the 17th century wine storehouse, the water mirror or the 18th century dovecote.
But we will especially remember its park, the only ISMH listed park in the Landes, and its exceptional collection of rare trees such as a gigantic zelkova, a centuries-old Siberian elm labeled “Remarkable Tree of France” and classified as a vulnerable species on the IUCN red list.
